More Fondant Fun

We found a cake and candy store in Annapolis the other day. We saw a reference to it online, but only two mentions of it, and no indication if it was open still or not, I had a pretty good idea of where it was though so we decided to check it out. It's just a tiny little store, but it's stuffed full of all sorts of fun stuff. We ended up getting some glycerin and glucose and a few other things to try yet another version of homemade fondant, but we also found a pre-made fondant called Satin Ice that the ladies in the store claimed tasted better than the Wilton stuff (which isn't that hard to do considering the Wilton stuff tastes like slightly sweet play-doh and has a nasty aftertaste).

The new fondant did taste much, much better than the Wilton pre-made fondant -- a bit like marshmallows actually. It also rolled out beautifully and was very nice to work with. We put it on the small cake we had leftover from the 4th and played with a simple interlocking circle design using the neon color packs of pre-made Wilton fondant. We need to roll the fondant out smaller if we make this design again, but overall we were pretty happy with how it turned out.
